Case 9 - Private Residence, MA |
![]() |
|
Date & Time: September 2009, 7:00 pm - 12:30 am Weather: Cool, progressively colder as the night went on
Along with our investigators there was a family friend, a minister and 3 adult family members, later joined by another guest. At this time it might be wise to state once again that we do not encourage a large group of people to take part in an investigation. The main reason for this is noise contamination. It can be difficult to discern certain sounds from our recordings, particularly whispering, when we analyze our evidence. We recognize that this can be an anticipated and exciting time for the owners but we are there to do a job. This is what you have requested for us to do. Please consider the potential difficulties. Historical Profile: The owner informed us that she had learned a few more details about her property since we were last there. For more background information please refer to Case #4. We were shown old family pictures and documents going back to the 1930s. It was interesting to see what some of the family members from this time period looked like. A thriving prostitution ring once operated near this building. It had once been a tough neighborhood. It is presumed that a certain level of negativity and violence was associated with this area. A medium had been called in at some point by the owners for her thoughts and opinions. The owner wanted to know about any entities that may be in the house and why they continued to inhabit it, and particularly why they continue to focus on the owner. The medium suggested that a grandfather and great grandfather should be considered. There was a lot of violence associated with these two as well as connected family members. As stated in the previous report, this house remained in the same family for generations, broken up once by other owners but always returning to the same family. Even previous owners, not associated with this family, appeared to be aggressive and dangerous. This violence is a documented fact. Recognizing the history of this place we understand that the owner will do whatever she feels is necessary to rid her home of unwelcome entities. The apparent presence in this home drains her, sometimes for days, and she is physically and emotionally tired of dealing with it. It has become increasingly difficult and a constant source of worry.
Investigation: We chose to keep the investigative team small, more personal. Discussed by the investigators ahead of time was the plan to have the owner make suggestions about how parts of the investigation would go this time around. This was done to give her a certain level of control, not just over us but within the realm of her home. The investigators began upstairs where much activity has taken place in the past. The children in the house have noticed a man (apparition, according to their description) in various places. The girl calls him "spooky." He appears to frequent the boy's closet as well as the hall near the bathroom. In fact the owner can hear footsteps and general movement back and forth from the bathroom to the bedroom during the night. Upon exploration she has discovered that the children were not up during the night so could not have caused the noise. The boy's closet door has opened, many times, to reveal the man standing there. He is described as a dark image without identification of any sort. Guest investigator Tess examined and tested the door and discovered that it sticks tight when closed. It would take a strong pull to open it. An IR camera was poised on this door all evening but it revealed nothing. The owner wished to try to recreate the events of our last visit by having the same person, a close friend, join us upstairs. She said she knew there was a presence because she could feel it. But it was not the same warm presence as the last time. We obtained no images to suggest something was there. However, Tess was subjected to heavy breathing directly behind her, close to her neck, when she stood in the center of the girl's bedroom. It should be mentioned that Tess is about the calmest investigator we know, and perhaps significantly, she showed no visible reaction to this sound therefore the owner was not frightened. The medium had suggested that the deceased family members might be focused on the closet area of this room. Pictures revealed nothing out of the ordinary. We watch the pets in any household. Their level of perception is
much more insightful than ours. One cat, Stitch, stayed with us
through most of the evening. He seemed unconcerned and very
comfortable with his surroundings. However, another housebound cat
was found outside on the owner's deck while we were there and we
have no idea how he got out or why. He appeared to be afraid to come
back in and it required some gentle coaxing to retrieve him. The
owner said he had never been outside before. This same cat later
appeared at the Towards the end of the evening we all gathered in the living room
and sat quietly talking. This room has been a source of unexplained
activity in the past. This is where the bottom of the stairs are, as
well as a door which leads to the porch. Family members have seen
and felt a presence in this location. Some sort of energy seemed to
be passing between the owner and her minister friend. An IR video
camera revealed nothing significant during the We ended the evening with a cleansing in the master bedroom, which has been done before. This room has seen significant unexplained activity over the years and is simply persistent with activity, according to the owners.
Evidence: As with all investigations, evidence is carefully reviewed. We take many hours to analyze audio, video and other camera shots. Everything is very carefully evaluated. In this particular case we obtained no evidence of a paranormal presence. Frequently throughout the evening we used the EMF meter. Unlike the last visit in which it spiked constantly, we got nothing. No reading at all. We must state that lack of physical evidence does not mean a paranormal presence does not exist.
Investigator Comments: *Tess: "I was not scared to be here, knowing what has happened in the past, but I can see that the owners are at times."
Conclusion: We were told another person, in an attempt to assist this family, placed crystals and stones, including hematite, throughout the house. Of note was the placement of a red ball on the nightstand in the master bedroom. At some point the owners decided to remove some of these objects, fearing an entrapment of negative energy. Other personal remarks about this subject were revealed to us but we will not delve into it here. It is mentioned because we want to convey that the owners have tried desperately to rid their home of what they perceive to be an evil presence. This kind family is living through anguish. We offered encouragement about the strength we believe they possess. They strongly believe in the existence of a paranormal presence in their home and believe it may never leave. We hope they are careful about the types of help they may look for in their attempt to protect their family and home in the future. We have been invited back again to investigate here. We will look into this possibility at a later date. In the meantime, we wish this family well and will be there if they need us.
