Case 29 - Historic Home, Rhode Island |
![]() |
||||
|
Date & Time: April 2011, overnight Weather: Pleasant
Historical Profile: Roger Williams was influential in persuading a group of settlers to come here during
the mid 1630s instead of New Jersey as they originally planned. Religious freedom was at the crux of
many early settlements including the one we visited.
Investigation: A great deal of focus was placed on the bedroom in question. The apparent spirit of the little girl has stood there, watching, so cameras were used at various angles. A motion sensor was placed here. The K-II meter was positioned here. A laser thermometer was used here. The grown daughter actively took part in the investigation. The old familiarity of the room put her at ease and she was able to focus on efforts to obtain evidence.
Some areas of the home are rarely used by the folks who live there. It was interesting to take an active role in wandering this place with a clear purpose. At no point did the environment feel threatening. All appeared very quiet. The house as well as an old barn sits on the windswept property. Common sights and sounds were checked even though the owners had no undue concern over them. At night there is a soft rattle at the old windows. The barn has a steady breeze going through it causing a slight "moan" to be heard. The tall brown grass on the edges of the property cast waving shadows at night. On this night nothing of questionable origin revealed itself.
Evidence: No paranormal evidence was obtained.
Investigator Comments: *Karen: "This was quite an adventure. The day we arrived was beautiful and we got to see Portsmouth, Middleton and Newport before doing the investigation. I would love to be able to investigate here for at least a week! The people were nice and the food was good; great seafood."
Conclusion: The family is happy and remains unconcerned; they just wanted to know if evidence could be captured. If arrangements can be made, we are open to returning to this home and this area in the future.
*Nearby Saint Columba was visited during this time. See notes and pictures under Vale of Rest on this site. |
