Case 2 - "The Maples at Warner B&B", Warner NH |
![]() |
|
Date & Time: April 2009; arrival time was 6:00 pm with the investigation lasting until 4:00 am the next morning Weather: cold and windy when we started, warming trend as morning approached
A business or other public location is listed with the consent or request of the owner. Acquiescence for all investigations is given in writing. The Conscious Spirit once again thanks Cheryl and Kevin, owners/ innkeepers of this beautiful place in the center of NH for their warm generosity and inviting manner. We partnered for a second time with our friends from Ghost Hunter's Guild. Historical Profile: The "Maples" has a long history of paranormal activity with the consensus being that it is inhabited by popular innkeeper Frank Watson, born about 200 years ago. For additional information about this location please refer to Case #1. It is interesting to note, as with the first investigation here, that the owners' dogs appear to watch and follow "something/someone" whom we cannot see. The dogs were not a part of the investigation but the owners have noted their behavior more than once in the past. They were welcome companions in the morning.
Investigation: We were able to monitor 4 different areas with the IR cameras, expertly handled by Jay and Jon. The night was quiet though we had a few unusual happenings along the way. We conducted half a dozen EVP sessions in several different places within the house. These sessions can last up to an hour at a time with sound being kept to an absolute minimum. That way, it becomes easier to attribute sound on the recorders to possible paranormal noise instead of sound being made by us. During one EVP session there was a slight noise from another room that we could not explain. Terri left the group to look around upstairs but discovered nothing out of the ordinary. A handful of pictures revealed nothing. Terri and Ann used dowsing rods with varying results. At one point Terri and Cassy went across the hall to investigate the area around the EMF meter left in an upstairs bedroom. Terri took about six pictures of the same spot. The image she kept seeing in the camera is something not easily understood. It looked like a woman in a bright red silhouette, which might have been reasonable considering the small statue there but for some odd reason the image did not pick up within the camera, though it could be seen on the small camera screen. We cannot explain this incident. In the back bedroom, thought to be the room Frank Watson, previous owner, slept in, Jon asked any possible spirits how many people were in the room. (There were 7.) Two separate meters had shown 69.9. Almost immediately it went up to 70.1.
This may have been the bedroom of previous owner Frank Watson or his ailing daughter in law.
During a break, Terri is reviewing evidence from a previous investigation.
Test objects where a strange red image showed itself on the camera screen but not actually in the picture.
Evidence: We obtained nothing in pictures or audio.
Investigator Comments: *Terri: "The location has a special feel of relaxed age to it, despite the fact that updates have provided modern comforts. It's almost like being in a special summer residence. You can sit by the window with a cup of coffee and the local newspaper and feel you are a part of the place. And the dogs made it seem like home!"
Conclusion: Although a few odd personal experiences were memorable, we recognize that spirits may not make an appearance just because we ask them to. We will remain interested in this location. "The Maples at Warner" is owned by people who cherish the place and its history. They are discerning people who will deal quite effectively with any possible paranormal activity within their walls.
