Case 1 - "The Maples at Warner B&B", Warner NH |

Date & Time: January 2009, overnight Weather: very cold
A business or other public location is listed with the consent or request of the owner. Acquiescence for all investigations is given in writing. The Conscious Spirit Paranormal Group wishes to express its deepest thanks for being allowed to investigate "The Maples at Warner," a place of warmth and friendly discourse. Our partners for the night were our friends from Ghost Hunter's Guild. Historical Profile: The owners of this popular B&B gave us a tour and told us about some of the anomalous things that have happened in the past. This included items moving on their own, one item being thrown, and a few other unexplained sights and sounds. Frank Watson was the owner of this property in the early part of the 19th century. As a tavern keeper he would have conversed with many, many people over the years. Being the good innkeeper that he was, he would have watched and tended to the comforts of others, probably for his entire adult life. It is known that he took care of his seriously ill daughter-in-law for several years before he died. Cheryl feels it is he who remains after all this time to tend to the needs of current visitors.
Investigation: All the investigators wandered upstairs as we began. It is rumored to have the most unexplained activity, though we were told footsteps and feelings of a presence can be felt downstairs as well. Terri and Ann loaned their dowsing rods to some others who previously never had the chance to use them. Their effectiveness was mostly successful. The ladies had excellent results with communication using this method. Questions were as simple as asking if anyone was in the room with us to asking if it was a male or female. The rods crossed or otherwise moved to indicate an answer to our questions. Two investigators thought they saw very slight movement from a bed in the front bedroom. It resembled a breathing motion in the center of the bedspread. Interestingly, the owner claims to have knowledge of this 600 pound bed moving, presumably on its own, away from the wall. This remains unexplained.
Owner advised us that this 600 lb. bed in a front bedroom has moved away from the wall on occasions. She doesn't know how. She further stated that grown men had problems moving it away from the wall when asked to do so.
This is the bed where two investigators were sleeping. One person experienced the sheets being pulled up to her chin as she lay there. About 4:00 am.
This is the area where the noise came from about 4:30 am. It woke the two sleeping investigators in this back bedroom. Nothing was seen and the bedroom door was closed.
Frank Watson was present as we took our opening tour, according to the owner. Of course, Frank has been dead for many years. High EMF readings were there as we moved about the room.
Evidence: A loud tap was heard in the back bedroom at about 4:00 am, after everyone had gone to bed. This was caught on a simple camcorder left on "just in case." It woke the two investigators in the room. In addition, one investigator felt a sheet being pulled up to her chin as she lay quietly in bed, within a half hour of the tap. A personal experience is not discarded. Several EVP sessions enabled us to pick up questionable audio. Our group partners discovered a couple of voices we know did not belong to us.
Investigator Comments: *Terri: "The innkeepers make you feel very welcome and comfortable. The innkeeper, Cheryl, is impressively insightful. In addition to having strong feelings about activity in the home she can read her guests like a book; the perfect innkeeper."
Conclusion: This is a pleasant, non-threatening location. The owners have invited us back and I know we all wish to return. Although it was somewhat quiet it was still memorable.
