Vale of Rest Painting Color
The Vale of Rest
This lovely painting was done by artist John Everett Millais (1829-1896). He is known to have painted a number of religious works and was a founder and member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. The original work The Vale of Rest was oil on canvas and is located in London. It is rumored to have been his favorite painting.

Cemetery Visits

  • North Cemetery and Union Cemetery - Portsmouth, NH The North Cemetery and Union Cemetery are actually in the same gated place, across from the Portsmouth Newspaper Office. They are separated by a well worn dirt pathway, wide enough for an old time cart with wheel rows deep enough to almost get a modern day car stuck. It overlooks the ocean. Graves here hold the remains of people who were born more than 300 years ago.

Funeral Transportation
These photos show various hearses that were once used.
